About Our Community - Cape Cod, MA

Falmouth, MA

Incorporated in 1686, the town of Falmouth encompasses numerous small villages:
Falmouth Village (the town seat and hub of commerce), historic North Falmouth and
West Falmouth, Quissett, Woods Hole (home of the world-famous Woods Hole
Oceanographic Institute
and Marine Biology Laboratory), East Falmouth, Davisville
and Waquoit (with a 2,500-acre Waquoit Bay National Estuarine Research Reserve),
and inland at Teaticket and Hatchville. These inland areas boast pine forest, open farm
land, and conservation and wildlife management areas with numerous hiking and bike
trails. This diverse geography, in addition to beautiful beaches, marsh and waterfront
areas, excellent schools, and active cultural life, make the town of Falmouth a desirable
place to live and a year-round vacation destination. Falmouth is home to several ferries
to the scenic Cape Cod islands of Martha's Vineyard and Nantucket. Falmouth is also
conveniently located within easy driving distance to Boston, MA, and Providence, RI.

Mashpee, MA

Incorporated as a town in 1870, the name "Mashpee" has been translated as
"greater cove," "great pond," or "land near great cove." The town boasts beautiful
beaches, extensive waterfront on four of the largest freshwater ponds on Cape Cod,
three championship golf courses, the Mashpee National Wildlife Refuge, South Cape
Beach State Park
and Lowell Holly Reservation. Its major villages are: Mashpee Neck,
Monomoscoy Island, New Seabury, Popponesset Island, Seabrook and Seconsett Island.

Bourne, MA

Founded by the Pilgrims in 1627, the town of Bourne is considered the “first” town on
Cape Cod. It is bisected by the Cape Cod Canal and connected to the mainland and
its halves by the Bourne Bridge. Bourne is home to the Massachusetts Maritime Academy
and National Marine Life Center. Otis Air National Guard Base is also partially located
in the town. Its beaches are primarily on Buzzard’s Bay, with a hiking trail along
the Cape Cod Canal as well as Bourne Scenic Park, a popular family campground. Bourne
is the site of the Aptucxet Trading Post, the nation’s oldest store. Its principal villages
include: Bournedale, Buzzards Bay, Cataumet, Monument Beach, Pocasset and Sagamore.
